Another Cake Bites The Dust
Why is it that with every cake incident in this story, someone is laughing in the picture? In this one, the bride and groom are even clapping their hands. Maybe they’re clapping because in some cultures, it a good thing to smash the cake.
In certain circles, it’s believed that feeding one another wedding cake symbolizes a promise by the bride and groom to sustain each other. This evolved into smashing the cake into each others’ faces, but the most dubious comes from ancient Rome, where a woman would have a barley cake smashed over her head as a sign of male dominance, and promote fertility.
