The Most Intact Fossilized Dinosaur

The nodosaur is a plant-eating armored dinosaur that lived approximately 110 million years ago. Remains of one were discovered by miners in Canada and are now on display at the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology in Alberta. The discovery, made around 2011, shocked researchers due to the incredible level of preservation in the 3,000-pound specimen.

The prehistoric animal is believed to have died after being swept away by flood and drowning. Its rapid subsea burial has resulted in its remarkable preservation, making it appear much as it did millions of years ago. Paleontologists consider it a rare occurrence for its tissue to have fossilized instead of decomposing.
