The 17-foot shark captured in a photo by British filmmaker Euan Rannachan is not something out of a movie but an actual image taken off the coast of Mexico. Rannachan explained to the Daily Mail how the shark, named Squirrel, came into the picture while he was outside the diving cage.

The shark wranglers baited the beast with tuna to get the shot. Although they were safe in the diving cage, it’s important to note that sharks have been around for over 455 million years and can quickly become irritated, especially if provoked. Sadly, they are often hunted for their fins.
