Issa Lish is a Mexican model, known throughout the industry and the web for her unique look, dubbed “Jolie laide.” According to the online definition, it means something idiomatic or unconventionally attractive. Literally, pretty and ugly at the same time, but referring to flawed good looks.
Lish owes this to being half Mexican through her mom and half Japanese through her father. She was born in 1995 and was discovered when she was fourteen while working at her father’s sushi place, which was intended as punishment for having bad grades, according to sources. Lish has since appeared in Vogue (Mexico, Italia, and Japan editions) and walked for Prabal Gurung, Prada, Anna Sui, Marc Jacobs, and many more.
