Most people who get packages with this filler feel the urge to pop every bubble, but not this voracious reader who probably knew the real issue with plastics. She probably understood how turning the otherwise useless material into a hat could make a big difference.
Plastic isn’t biodegradable, which means it doesn’t decompose, and it adds to the problem of global warming. What’s worse is that single-use plastics such as bottles and carrier bags make up 40 percent of the hundreds of millions of tons of plastic manufactured each year.
