Welcome to Finland – a country that is known for breathtaking landscapes, the northern lights, and creepy scarecrows! Yes, these people, who are staring at you without batting an eyelid, are definitely not real.
Curated by the artist Reijo Kela, they are known as ‘The Silent People of Suomussalmi.’ Quite evidently, they are more than just a bunch of scarecrows and have been a part of the Helsinki neighborhood for over three decades now. It might be just an art installation for us, but the locals take care of it dearly and change the installation’s clothes every year!
