Elkie Brooks – Age 77
Elkie Brooks is one of the most well-known rock artists in the UK today. She first gained attention as the frontwoman for two music bands, Dada, and Vinegar Joe, before seeking stardom on her own.
At her peak in the late ’70s and ’80s, Brooks had 13 singles in the UK Top 75. In 1986, she had hits like “Pearl’s a Singer,” “Sunshine After the Rain,” and “No More the Fool.” There’s a reason she’s been called the British Queen of Blues: she absolutely owns the genre. Brooks is still active and even goes on tours, like her 60th-anniversary show in 2021.
