Before Caitlyn Jenner and Chaz Bono were flying the flag, Caroline Cossey was the controversial trans personality. After her final transitioning surgery in 1974, she concealed her trans status while doing both high-end and glamour modeling. Then she got her big film break in the 1981 James Bond film For Your Eyes Only.
Eventually, scoop-hungry tabloids outed her as trans, but it only boosted her appeal. She became the first trans person to pose on the cover of Playboy and was at the forefront of fighting for transgender rights. She is set to feature in a 2022 documentary called Trans Rights Are Human Rights.
