When Joyce spoke to the realtors, she had disclosed to them that she had been living in the house for exactly 72 years. Much of the time spent was with her late husband. She told the sisters that since the acquisition, the only change made to the house was an overhaul in 1965.
Houses need renovation every decade or so. Gladys and Carla assumed that the cause of not renovating the structure could have been that it was either unsellable or possibly beyond repair. But the exterior was a pleasant surprise.
