Willie Lanier, 77, Kansas City Chiefs
For over a decade, Willie Lanier was an outstanding player in the NFL and AFL, making an immediate impact with the Kansas City Chiefs as a middle linebacker when he joined in 1967. He was named to six Pro Bowls and eight All-Pro teams and became a two-time All-Star and the NFL Man of the Year in 1972.
The Super Bowl champion tapped into his college degree to become a stockbroker before serving as vice chairman at First Union Securities. Lanier became a minority venture partner at Syncreon’s (formerly TDS Logistics), having previously served as the chief operating officer at TDS/US, reaffirming his sports and business versatility.
