The Quiet Life of Some of the Greatest NFL Players

Dick Butkus, 80, Chicago Bears

The footballing career of Dick Butkus ended in 1973, but his legacy continued in Hollywood after he starred in the 1971 film “Brian’s Song” and went on to pursue acting and sports commentating roles. He appeared in the series “Hang Time,” “My Two Dads,” and “Blue Thunder,” and made single-episode appearances in other shows and films.

The former Chicago Bears middle linebacker’s last movie appearance was in 2014’s “I Didn’t Do It.” Before then, the eight-time Pro Bowler, who was awarded the George Halas Award in 1974, was a regular fixture on NBC and CBS as a color commentator and briefly held a position in radio commentary.
