Daisy discovered a backdoor, its hinges creaking as if it were slightly ajar. She ordinarily wouldn’t contemplate entering a stranger’s house uninvited, especially from the rear, but the door seemed to be barely hanging on its frame. Daisy found herself in a dilemma. Was she bold enough to venture into an unknown house in what could be a risky neighborhood?
Yet she knew her foremost concern was reconnecting with the Labrador. Ready to roll the dice, Daisy felt fairly sure the house was presently uninhabited. Nonetheless, it was wise to call John around to the back before she proceeded. Her safety was paramount.
