Among Garrett Morgan’s many inventions, the three-light traffic light has to be the most memorable. After all, these signals have become a big part of our day-to-day and help ensure the orderly traffic flow for vehicles while providing an opportunity for pedestrians to cross the road safely.
Note the keyword, vehicles. Yes, that’s what makes this photo very amusing. The only vehicle this dirt road will probably be seeing is a bicycle. But still, someone figured it would make sense to erect a traffic light on a one-way lane. If this isn’t a waste of a good traffic light, we don’t know what is.
