Historians claim that umbrellas were invented in Western Asia almost 4000 years ago. Back then, the sun was much more threatening than the rain, and people designed a device known as a parasol to protect their skin from the scorching heat.

The first umbrellas were made with papyrus, peacock feathers, and palm leaves. And only the rich folk could afford them. Centuries later, Jean Marius invented France’s first compact, foldable umbrella. The device has undergone a lot more revisions since then. And somehow, this man has managed to throw centuries of redesigns down the drain by using his umbrella the wrong way.
