The calm-watered Koki Beach is where many local Hana children learn how to surf, but tourist guides advise inexperienced surfers against undertaking Koki’s boulder-filled waters. We’re taking the experts’ recommendation, and we’re just happy to sit peacefully in the beach’s characteristic dark-red sand.
Next to the beach, we find a lovely picnic park where we sit down to enjoy a little snack. On the horizon, we can spot a lovely cone-shaped island known as ‘Ālau.
