Imagine the outrage this image would spark if it were printed on a children’s book in this “woke” age. The pages of kid’s publications are the last place you expect to find inappropriate images but a few have slipped through the cracks. Even the good old fairytale had dark and disturbing origins before getting diluted to their current forms.
For instance, Prince Charming’s kiss didn’t rouse Cinderella from her deep slumber but rather, the pain of childbirth jolted her back to consciousness. The unsettling bit is that a passing king impregnated her while she peacefully rested, and worse yet, it was without consent.
