Camilla Did Not Take Lady D’s Title

Charles, Prince of Wales, divorced his first wife, the late Lady D, in 1996. Nine years later, in 2005, he married Camilla Parker Bowles, making her the Duchess of Cornwall to match his title. However, Camilla did not automatically get the Princess of Wales title, which was Lady Diana’s.

Although Charles and Camilla’s relationship did have their ups and downs, she did earn the respect of Queen Elizabeth II. In 2012, the queen decided to honor Camilla with the Royal Victorian Order’s highest female rank — the Dame Grand Cross.
