You have surely caught a glimpse of a royal wedding at least once in your lifetime. The most recent ceremony where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot was seen by the whole world in 2018. Similarly, Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding in 2011 was seen worldwide.
However, before these fine young lads proposed, or before any important decision such as this, the Queen needs to give her blessing. In fact, Elizabeth II released a formal public statement in which she declared that she gives the couples her formal consent to wed. Without the blessing of the queen, the British law would have considered their marriage invalid.
