Kate McGregor – Emily Kirk, Emmerdale
Many aspiring actors would give anything to get a recurring role in a long-running soap opera. But Kate McGregor, who’s known for playing misfit Emily Kirk in Emmerdale, gave this up in favor of raising her son and being with her family in 2008.
Portraying the character for almost a decade, McGregor also felt like Emily’s story had run its course and decided to leave the limelight. She didn’t completely turn her back on acting, though. Last we heard, she starred in a local theater production of The Flint Street Nativity in Liverpool.
