That Night Rod Stewart Outpartied Steve Rubell
Steve Rubell is no stranger to the nightlife being the co-owner of Studio 54. But it seems like Rod Stewart once beat him at his own game. Rubell might not have minded it though. After all, getting people like the Maggie May singer to come to the club was his goal.
Apparently, he believed that the key to throwing a good party is filling the place with guests who are more interesting than the host. Rubell succeeded at this well…but only for a while. About three years into the business, he and co-founder Ian Schrager were in trouble with the government for not paying taxes.
