The Show Went On…But Was Never Quite The Same
Ian Schrager and Steve Rubell would later go on to sell Studio 54 and the famous nightclub would continue to host patrons throughout the ‘80s under different management. But while interesting people continue to come, this funky dancer on stilts included, it seems the party wasn’t just the same as it was during the disco’s heydays.
Fortunately, its founders would be able to redeem themselves after getting out of jail. Schrager and Rubell went into the hotel business together until the latter’s death in 1989. Schrager continued on and developed one luxury hotel after another.
