Everyone Found Their Place
With a seemingly endless crowd of people coming and going, it’s a surprise everyone seemed to have found their own spot within Studio 54’s walls. That’s also thanks to the former theater’s cavernous size and its owners’ efforts to mold it into what Architectural Digest dubbed as a “paradigm-shifting” place.
Ian Schraeger and Steve Rubell were constantly renovating the nightclub throughout its original three-year run. They even added a Sweeney Todd-inspired moving bridge inside. Safe to say Schraeger learned a lot from this exciting time in his life for his later career as a hotelier. He is reportedly credited for coming up with the concept of a boutique hotel.
