Walt Disney’s Own Military Rejection

In the fall of 1918, a young Walt Disney made a spirited attempt to enlist for military service. However, his eagerness was met with a setback when he was rejected because he was only 16 years old at the time.

Despite Walt’s initial disappointment, this rejection would not deter him from later contributing to the war effort in other ways. In fact, he entered the Red Cross and went overseas, driving an ambulance and chauffeuring officials of the organization for a year.
