Despite the changing landscape and perspective of the world, the LGBTQ community is still under extreme duress. Many public members of this community are still living in secret, afraid to come out in fear of a backlash at the hands of family and friends.
But trust celebrities to come in and save the day with their high profiles and willingness to share their orientation. That’s right, if you didn’t already know, there are tons of gay and bis*xual celebrities, and many of them have come out to make it easier for the regular person to do the same. From Don Lemon to Zachary Quinto, here are some inspirational gay celebrities.
Anderson Cooper & Benjamin Maisani
Besides being one of the most prominent journalists on American television, Anderson Cooper is also part of the famous, filthy rich Vanderbijlt shipping family. But besides all of those accolades, he is also one of the most prominent gay journalists on American TV, or so he says of himself.
While Cooper was never secretive about his orientation, he officially came out after allowing Andrew Sullivan to publish an email stating the fact. He was in a long-term relationship with nightclub owner Benjamin Maisani, and the two share a son. They have since split but have amicably opted to co-parent the child.
