Archie Roach – $13 Million
Archie Roach drew inspiration for his songs from his difficult childhood. He belonged to the stolen generations of Aboriginal children who, for almost a century, were taken from their homes by local authorities under protection era legislation and policies.
His most well-known hit was “Took the Children Away.” He became one of Australia’s most recognizable and famous performers thanks to the song, earning him two Aria Awards and an International Human Rights Achievement Award. He collaborated with several Australian musicians, and in 2015 Roach was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia. The legendary singer passed on in July 2022 at 66.
