Tommy Steele is an English entertainer and singer-songwriter widely regarded as Britain’s first rock and roll star. He rose to prominence in the late ’50s and early ’60s and was known for his energetic stage performances and distinctive singing style. Steele has released numerous hit songs and albums throughout his glittering career and continues to perform.
In the ’60s, however, Steele broadened his career beyond rock and roll, becoming an all-around entertainer. He appeared in notable films such as “The Happiest Millionaire” and “Finian’s Rainbow” and became an accomplished author and sculptor. He was knighted in the 2020 Birthday Honours for his contributions to entertainment and charity.
