Willie Mays – 90
Willie Howard Mays Jr. earned the nickname “The Say Hey Kid” when he played professional baseball as a centerfielder. One story suggests that Barney Kremenko, who worked as a New York Journal writer, gave Mays the nickname after hearing him say “Hey” repeatedly.
Mays is well-respected within the baseball circuits and regarded as one of the best players ever. He also took up golf and became quite good at it. Mays explained that he knew that he needed a sport that would keep him active once he hung up the glove. He had to give up playing golf in the ’90s when he was diagnosed with glaucoma.
