High-Octane Glamor: 30 Celebrity Cars That Define Luxury and Vintage Cool
John Cleese — 1987 Bentley “Eight,” $3K
In the eclectic garage of British comedian John Cleese once lived a classic—his 1987 Bentley “Eight,” a car that’d seen more years of ownership than miles on its odometer. John, who amusingly learned to drive well after his infamous “Damn good thrashing” scene in “Fawlty Towers,” had driven this Bentley a mere 9,000 miles.
The Bentley has a sparse service history, evident from just two stamps in its two-decade-old book. Stored in Kent, the car had signs of aging: peeling veneer and some minor battle scars from his rare outings. Yet, with an initial auction price of £2.5K or roughly $3K, this gem, put on the block in 2012, captured a British charm.
