No, it’s not what you think it is. This, dear reader, is leg day. The most dreaded training in any regiment. This guy hasn’t started, and he’s already in tears; even his spotting buddy’s support isn’t helping him. It’s unclear whether he’s going to make it through that squat or not.

Experts believe that it’s not the initial strain that makes people hate it, but the muscle soreness afterward. Every step is going to hurt, but you have no choice but to use your legs. If you survive a few leg days, though, the soreness eventually wears off, at least until you increase the weight or repetitions.
