Ever Wondered How Life Was Back in the Day? These Vintage Images Show How Drastically the World Has Changed

The glorious Statue of Liberty is one of the most recognizable landmarks in New York, but it was made and conceptualized by a French sculptor named Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi. For eight years, he and this group of lads worked day and night to complete a monument that was gifted to the United States of America via the French Navy ship.

Proudly standing over 300 feet, the statue shows a lady holding a torch and a tablet bearing the Declaration of Independence’s date. The crown represents the continents and the ocean, while the face was modeled after the sculptor’s mother.
