Keep Your Feet on the Ground
Can’t make anything out of this photo? Well, it’s a huge marble foot statue that was part of the Marcus Aurelius monument. Unearthed in Turkey in 2008, archaeologists were surprised to have found this gem in Sagalassos. Fret not; the search for the other missing parts remains active to this day.
On top of this magnanimous foot, the team had found the Roman emperor’s head, right arm, and chunks of legs. Aurelius is perhaps best remembered as a writer and a stoic philosopher; he was portrayed by Richard Harris in the 2000 movie “Gladiator.”
