The talent of the ski racer Hermann Maier was discovered in the 1990s when he was the forerunner of the World Cup giant slalom race course. Austria’s ski association took notice of him, and just a few days later the trained bricklayer was allowed to take part in the European Cup. Here he exceeded all expectations and was able to fight for second place. Over the last decades he has turned out to be one of the most talented skiers in Austria and has already won two Olympic golds. In doing so, the 48-year-old earned a golden nose on the side, because today his fortune is estimated at 40 million euros.
