He played a successful college football coach in the Cheaper By The Dozen movie franchise. But when he was in high school, comedian Steve Martin wasn’t even on the football team. Instead, he was a male cheerleader during his high school years at Garden Grove High School in California.
While it didn’t lead him directly into comedy, his cheerleading experience gave him the platform he needed to handle crowds. He worked at Disneyland and Fantasyland, where he learned to do magic and juggle, and while in college, he started doing comedy. He has a role as writer and star in the 2021 series Only Murders in the Building.
