Lee Grant – Age 96
The American actress Lee Grant had just made her on-screen debut when she was blacklisted. She failed to find acting jobs for over ten years, a consequence of being highlighted as a “communist” during a period now known as McCarthyism. Luckily, she was still able to make a ’60s return and appear in productions as iconic as Peyton Place and Valley of the Dolls.
Later, Grant decided to become a director. She’s done it 27 times since the early ’70s, mainly working on documentaries. Speaking of which, a 95-year-old Grant is expected to appear as an interviewee in the to-be-released documentary movie Female Brando: The Enigmatic Legacy of Kim Stanley.
