Engelbert Humperdinck – Age 86
Arnold George Dorsey, better known by his professional name Engelbert Humperdinck, became internationally known in the late ’60s because of his recording of the famous song “Release Me.” He started performing in the late ’50s and eventually found success, being described as one of the finest middle-of-the-road balladeers around.
After selling millions of his UK chart-topping singles, he garnered fans who were so devoted that they started calling themselves ‘Humperdinckers.’ North American chart success came in the ’70s with songs like “This Moment in Time,” Humperdinck went on to enjoy musical success for over half a century, selling over 140 million records globally.
