Nehemiah Persoff – Age 102
Nehemiah Persoff (Jerusalem, British Mandate of Palestine, August 2, 1919 – San Luis Obispo, California, United States, April 6, 20221) was an American actor and painter of Israeli descent.
Born in Jerusalem, he emigrated with his family to the United States in 1929 and graduated from the Hebrew Technical Institute in 1937. After serving in the United States Army during World War II, he worked as a subway electrician, maintaining signals while starting his acting career in New York theater. In 1947, he was accepted into the Actors Studio and began his acting career in 1948. He retired from acting in 1999 and devoted his full time to painting. He lived with his wife, Thia, in Cambria, California, until her death in 2021 due to cancer. They had four children. He died on April 5, 2022, at the age of 102 due to a cardiac complication.
