Johnny Bench
The name Johnny Bench is synonymous with baseball greatness. He played the catcher position with the Cincinnati Reds from 1967 to 1983 and is widely regarded as one of the best players in baseball history. Bench won 10 Gold Gloves, was named National League MVP twice, and was selected to the All-Star game 14 times.
He was also instrumental in the Reds’ World Series-winning teams of 1975 and 1976. Bench was a leader on and off the field and a terrific defender. The Reds retired his number 5 jersey, and he was elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989.
