Bern Nadette Stanis (Born in 1953 – New York)

Although she’s not as popular today, Bern Nadette Stanis is still considered a trailblazer. Publications like Essence magazine dubbed her as TV’s first Black feminine symbol thanks to her memorable portrayal of Thelma Evans Anderson in the ’70s sitcom “Good Times.”

Stanis followed that up with a string of minor small-screen appearances in the ’80s and the ’90s before focusing on other endeavors. She’s written several self-help books, including “Situations 101: Relationship.” Still as beautiful as ever, she occasionally acts today and appeared in the short film “Dreams From The Edge” in 2021.
