Barbara Mandrell (Born in 1948 – Houston)
Barbara Mandrell profited from a booming period for country musicians in the ’70s and ’80s. She released some of her best songs, like “Sleeping Single in a Double Bed” and “I Was Country Before Country Was Cool.” Mandrell also had her TV variety show at this time, which made her famous and exposed her vocal ability.
Mandrell, who had been touring with the likes of Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash, later formed part of “The Mandrell Family Band.” She has won two Grammys and seven American Music Awards. In 2018, she was inducted into the Music Hall Of Fame and in 2021, was honored with the Grand Ole Opry.
