Remember These British Soap Opera Stars? See What They Are Up To Now

Julie Hesmondhalgh – Hayley Cropper, Coronation Street

Julie Hesondahalgh played one of the most historical characters in soap opera history when in 1998, she joined Coronation Street. Her character, Hayley Cropper, was the first-ever transgender woman to feature in a soap opera regularly. The character also suffered one of the most tragic deaths, committing suicide after discovering she had pancreatic cancer.

The character was praised by critics and politicians alike and obviously made Hesondahalgh a household name. She would land roles in films like Cucumber, Happy Valley, and Broadchurch and move to the theater, with a role in the Black Roses: The Killing of Sophie Lancaster. She currently has a role in a series called The Pact.
