Remember These British Soap Opera Stars? See What They Are Up To Now
Bruno Langley – Todd Grimshaw, Coronation Street
Todd Grimshaw, the character played by Bruno Langley, is another historical figure in the LGBTQI community. The character became the first gay person to feature on a soap opera regularly. The coming out storyline generated lots of media attention and also allowed Coronation Street to reflect an accurate portrait of society.
Langley’s run on the show wasn’t smooth. He joined in 2001 but left in 2004. He returned in 2007 and 2011, then came back permanently in 2013. Then he was unceremoniously fired from the soap after allegations of indecent assault. Todd’s character carried on, though, and in 2020 was recast to Gareth Pierce. Langley hasn’t acted since being fired.
