André 3000, one half of the group OutKast, had the honor of playing Jimi Hendrix. Hendrix is considered as one of the greatest musicians and inspiration and influence for many artists today. The version presented in the movie caused plenty of controversies. Hendrix’s acquaintances and friends said that the film was mostly fiction.
Special concern was raised regarding the violent characteristics depicted by the character in the film. According to the people who knew him, this was not the reality. The film had a limited release. André was seen in May 2019 attending the high school graduation ceremony of the son of Big Boi, the other half of OutKast.
