El Che Guevara is one of the most polemic figures in recent history. The Argentinian revolutionary played an instrumental role in the Cuban rebellion that put Fidel Castro in power. Benicio del Toro played the part of Guevara in front of the camera in this two-part film directed by Steven Soderbergh.
The first part was focused on the Cuban revolution while the second one highlighted Guevara’s efforts in Bolivia. Del Toro’s performance was widely acclaimed and he won the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival. The film was a success with the public as well.
