What no one was expecting as they started shooting Invictus was the friendship that would grow between Morgan Freeman, one of the most recognizable faces –and voices- in the industry and political leader Nelson Mandela. But the friendship actually predates the movie.
When asked, Mandela said that Freeman should be the one to portray him if a movie about him was ever made. Therefore, since the ‘90s, Freeman and Mandela got to know each other and they would talk about life in general, but also about how to portray the activist that changed the history of South Africa.
