Julia Roberts had to undergo a transformation to portray the real-life legal clerk Erin Brockovich for the 2000 movie of the same name. Most notably, the production had to add more cleavage onto Roberts for the star to really fit the part.
According to Brockovich’s interview on Fox News, Roberts didn’t want to meet up before filming to avoid mimicking her. Although it’s an unconditional method, Roberts wound up with a Best Actress Oscar for her performance. According to Brockovich herself, it was because she could empathize with her feelings.
