Sid Vicious was part of the famous English punk rock band credited for precipitating the punk rock movement. Sid Vicious served as the band’s bassist and his troubled story involving substance dependence is retold through Sid and Nancy. Gary Oldman played the role of Sid Vicious while Chloe Webb portrayed Nancy Spungen, Sid’s groupie-turned-girlfriend.
The two were considered the punk rock version of Romeo & Juliet and it ended similarly in tragedy with Sid’s arrest over the death of his girlfriend. The 1986 biopic didn’t do well following its theatrical release but it later became a cult classic.
