Move Over Gulliver & Goliath: The Gentle Giant Is Here!
Most of us have heard about Goliath and Gulliver. While those two might be the only giants you remember from your childhood stories, this sculpture of “The Gentle Giant” is sure to bring in a dash of new. Sculpted by ex-gangster James Boyle, it was intended to be a play area but turned out to be this unusual 100-foot sculpture.
The giant whose arms, legs, and torso contained several tunnels and playful hideaways, was sadly reduced to a graffiti-sprayed abandoned mess of rocks over the years. It was demolished in 2011, but every now and then, an old drone camera picture of the structure surfaces to jog up its memory.
