“You can pack a pretty picnic, but you can’t predict the weather,” as the old saying goes. In red carpet terms, though, it probably goes something like, “you can wear a pretty dress, but you can’t predict the weather.” Either way, the main culprit in this situation is the weather and particularly the wind.
Miss World 1975 Wilnelia Merced thought she was wearing the prettiest dress at the British Academy Television Awards. But she didn’t count on the wind making it the most uncomfortable dress too, which is what happened when she got caught in it. She kept good composure, though, and continued smiling for photos despite her situation.
