As airports tightened security measures to combat terrorism and smuggling, people became more creative with their attempts to get contraband past security. However, these increased efforts only made security measures harsher.
Suppose someone fails to go through the full-body scanner without setting the alarm off. In that case, they will be subject to a second search by a security officer of the same gender, who may use a portable scanner. This can be a very uncomfortable experience, as evidenced in the photograph taken at LAX airport in 2010 when Kim Kardashian was frisked. The guard was thorough in their search, checking every inch of her, despite her tight leggings and sheer top.
