To the Halberts, the triplets were more than a valuable new addition to their family. They were also their way of making something out of nothing, of turning otherwise lost embryos into fully-functioning human beings.

In a way, Rachel and Aaron weren’t simply fighting general racial prejudice by adding three more African-American descendants to their mixed-race household. They were also putting their actions where their words were and making sure that their pro-life convictions mattered. The young couple is said to be touched by the idea of saving lives resulting from in-vitro fertilization.
